When I look at photos.I'd like to know who did them, because the story of an artist is sometime the reason why, when, how - somebody made the photo - what made the impact - the will to shoot that particular photo -there is always the influence of the artist story - life .
Now, when I joined this website, I went to visit the members, their pages, their work and was amazed at the fact that there is nothing about them - well, some of them, and it is a shame, it is not that I am nosy - just love people and their work, meeting talented people from around the world who share the same passion is enriching - and I don't understand the reason for hiding, world of beauty is out there and sharing it with blank faces makes me sad
So people, share your love of life and life of love so we can enjoy the common beauty
God bless you all

taking photos is sometimes like another voice in a country that i cant speak the language so well, photos are like poems and shapes put to words. there is anonymity and yet identity.

Yes, i'd agree with Shula.
On I Draw and Paint, there are a number of questions, that are shown on the front page of each person's Profile. Such as:
Where are you from?
Age (you can choose to keep this private or make this public)
What's your real name? (this is compulsary, but is kept private from other members)
What's your favorite medium? (we could perhaps change this to What's your favourite style or subject? )
How long have you been drawing or painting? (we could change this to How long have you been taking abstract poto's?)
Tell us a bit about yourself.

There's also an area for free text. I've added in a section here called Inspiration.
Perhaps we can make that a standard question: What inspires you?

Cheers, Dieuwke (Dukes)

Dear Shula, I agree, it is nice to know some background details of artists. Do you think it would be more infomative if i add some further questions to registering page? And what kinfd of questions they would be? However to give the details is totally voluntary. Thanks Shula for your caring! :)

regards Ari

It is not the private things, but knowing whether someone is from England, Israel or India as any other place on earth gives a clue to the cultural heritage one has hence the way he looks at certain objects, use of colors subjects, scenes etc. Also if it's a photography of a landscape I really would like to know where it is, And there's also the age factor, whether we like it or not we carry with us experience of sights and happenings that influence the way we depict and use events, forms, scenery in our art, that's why I find this details important to me when I want to evaluate an art object.
I'd like also to know if someone is self taught or studied art, young or old, I'd like to imagine the future development of the artist, but that is a personal thing.

I think the simple fact to be joined in a community -wathever, not only in art stuff- is because people itself is willing to comunicate something, to sharesomething...Im sure nobody is here to hide ourselves, each is looking for something, the point is what we want to share, and that, is a personal descision.

Hi Shula

I'm move than willing to share info about myself. I guess I should post a photo with me and my cats.
I had my own Photo Business in NYC for over 16yrs, with my ex-husband, the business was called "Esbin-Anderson Photography". We had agents all over the world and did Stock Photos for them, we also did photos for private individuals and a lot of Corporate clients. When I divorced my husband I gave him our Photo Business. Now I really concentrate mostly on my fine art: Mixed Media Sculpture, Bronze Sculpture, Oil Paintings, Acrylica Paintings, 3D Mixed Media Paintings. A lot of my art photo work is Erotic and you can see it on The Secret Room. I have my fine art on a few sites just google: RuthEdwardAnderson and it will come up. I'd like your comments on any of my work.

I look forward to seeing more of your beautiful images.
