Within these all years of experience in photography; I have learned more about art than taking a snap shot in a birthday party or a wedding reception. An attempt to explore the abyss of photography has opened plenty of doors, and each doors lead to infinite path of fantasy in colors.
Particularly I got interested in Abstracts; in photographic term it has different classification named “Abstract Photography”. I don’t know more photographers who are in this field, but I know there are many photographers around the globe, who are specializing in abstract arts.
Abstract art uses a visual language of form, color and line to create a composition which may exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world. Abstraction indicates a departure from reality in depiction of imagery in art. This departure from accurate representation can be only slight, or it can be partial, or it can be complete. Abstraction exists along a continuum. I have learned it is not easy to take a clear abstract photography, because it has some classifications of its own. Abstract photography is an art of its own. I have learned there is Geometrical, Nature, Figurative, Lyrical and Musical abstraction in its classification. I also learned that there are three art movements which contributed to the development of abstract art; they are Romanticism, Impressionism and Expressionism. The difficulty to put camera in action is that much of the history of abstract photography evolved through the path of abstract painting, a careless snap without much meaning will give worse result in output. It is also more difficult to explain ones abstract art in thematic form without knowing the basic theory. Exploring the book stall is much more difficult to find a good book on abstract photography, because I have not got one from my nearby book stall, where everything arranged under the cabinet was really dedicated to nature, portrait or wildlife photography.
For, a photographer needs an in-depth study about abstract arts theory before taking a camera and jumping into the abyss of abstraction. A mere photographical talent does not give much result; abstract art has a long history of its own. This is an art of expression. Abstract photography is experimenting and exploring the forms and tones. Some photographers prefer great naturalistic expression, some on modern art.
In abstract photography, the photographer paints the art with camera; alternative to painters paints and brushes. Creating a great abstract is a tough job for a photographer who is concerned with it.
I have done some thing while exploring, due to my lack of knowledge in theoretical part of abstract photography, it was very difficult for me to classify my works.
